Dee Byrne is a London-based saxophonist, composer and improviser. Her collaborations include: Cath Roberts’ ten piece ensemble Favourite Animals, electronics duo Deemer, Northern group Now It Can Be Told, UK/Swiss ensemble Moonmot and Swiss quintet Ydivide. She has also played with Paradox Ensemble (22a records), Beats & Pieces Big Band (efpi records), Nerija (Domino records) and London Improviser’s Orchestra. She is member of Brit Funk outfit Atmosfear, Amy Lives(with original members of Amy Winehouse band) and retro funk group Soul Immigrants. Her quintet Entropi released its second album Moment Frozen in 2017 (Whirlwind Recordings). The quintet has toured the UK twice and performed at Manchester and Lancaster Jazz Festivals (2016), London and Cambridge Jazz Festivals (2017) and Marsden and Brighton Alternative Jazz Festival (2018). Dee also co-runs LUME, a small artist-run organisation with a focus on the creation of new original/improvised music. Activities have included a double-bill tour in 2015, a monthly residency at The Vortex, two festivals and performances at EFG London Jazz Festival five consecutive years from 2013-17.
